Another Randhawa in making, Raj tops first stage of PGTIQ-school
New Delhi, July 19 (UNI) Following on the footsteps of his uncle Jyoti Randhawa, young Raj Randhawa took his first steps towards professional golf in style as he topped the first stage of the PGTI Qualifying School for the 2007-08 season.
The 19-year-old junior Randhawa was the only player to aggregate an under-par total with rounds of 70 and 71 for three-under 141 in the 36-hole first stage competition.
He was closely followed by former Indian Open champion Feroz Ali who shot identical scores of 73 in both the rounds of the first stage.
Other prominent names negotiating the first stage successfully were Jaskeerat Dullet, and Australian Chris Hynes.
A total of 97 golfers took part in the first stage from which 37 golfers making up the top 35 and ties will eualify for the next stage.
