Andaman's first Kho-Kho team for SGFI National Championship

Port Blair, Oct 05 (UNI) For the first time in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a 12-member Island School Kho-Kho (under-14 girls) team has left for Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, to represent these far-flung islands in the 54th SGFI National School Kho-Kho Championship.

Before the departure, the Directorate of Education of Andaman arranged a blessing ceremony and farewell party for the children who would be participating in the mega sports event from October 12 to 17 at Sagar.

''This is a great opportunity for you to show the best of your abilities in National Level and win medals for these islands,'' the Director of Education told the players during the blessing ceremony.

He also expressed the hope that such exposure will help the children for future competitions.

All these 12 players would be reaching Chennai on October 6 via M V Nancowry from where the team would proceed for Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, officials of Andaman's Education Department said.
