Andaman champ chosen coach of Indian chess team for Switzerland

Port Blair, July 22 (UNI) An Andaman and Nicobar islander, Dinesh, has been selected by All India Chess Federation to attend the International Open Chess Tournament, to be held at Switzerland from July 22 to August 3, 2007, as the coach of Indian team.

''This is for the first time in the sports history of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and is a proud moment for us,'' G Bhaskar, President of Andaman and Nicobar State Olympic Association (ANSOA) told UNI here today.

The ANSOA had been active in these islands for nearly last six years.

Dinesh, attached with Andaman Harbour Works as Lower Division Clerk, had already reached Switzerland with the Indian team.

Meanwhile, in a meeting held this morning the ANSOA and Regional Sports Council had decided to honour Dinesh after his return.
