Ancelotti to remain Milan coach until 2010
MILAN, May 31 (Reuters) AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has signed a new contract which will keep him at the San Siro until June 2010, the European champions said today.
Ancelotti, whose team beat Liverpool 2-1 in the Champions League final last week, said recently he would like to manage Italy but only after 2010.
He was in danger of being sacked in November after Milan suffered a poor start to the season following an eight-point deduction for their role in last season's match-fixing scandal.
However, results picked up and they finished fourth in Serie A as well as claiming their seventh European Cup.
''I am now even more a part of the Milan family. It took a moment to reach an agreement and I am really pleased to stay here,'' Ancelotti told the club's Web site (www.acmilan.com).
''The fact we won the Champions League this season is also because the club backed me in November. Had I been at another club then they may have looked for a new coach but (vice-president) Adriano Galliani is a great official.'' REUTERS PDS BST0355
