Anand draws again, blows away chance of top-three finish
Wijk Aan Zee, Jan 27 (UNI) Having blown away the chances of regaining the title, Viswanathan Anand is now firmly out of contention for a top-three finish as well after splitting points with Sergey Tiviakov in the twelfth and penultimate round in the Corus Chess tournament here today.
Starting at a disadvantage with black, Anand decided to split after battling for 27 moves with the reigning Dutch Champion.
Anand now aggregates 7 points with a round remaining but virtually blew away the opportunity to finish inside the top three, led by Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria.
