All India Volleyball tourney begins tomorrow

Chennai, May 18 (UNI) Top teams from across the country will vie for honours in the inaugural Rs 1.5 lakh prize money All India Volleyball tournament to be organised by the Nellai Friends and Dr Sivanthi Club will be held here from June 5.

Tournament officials told UNI here today that the tournament would be sponsored by St Joseph's College of Engineering and be played under league-cum-knock out basis.

Eight teams each in both the men's and women's section would be seen in action in the week long tournament, to be held at Mayor Radhakrishnan stadium.

Prominent teams in the men's section included : Cochin Port Trust(Kochi), KSEB (Trivandrum), IOB, Indian Bank, Southern Railway, SDAT, ICF.

In the women's section Western Railway (Mumbai), Central Railway (Mumbai), KSEB (Trivandrum), Southern Railway, Dr Sivanthi Club, GKM VOlleyball Club, St Joseph's college and Tamil Nadu Police would be seen in action.
