All arrangements made for SAARC rally in Haryana
Chandigarh, Mar 27 (UNI) The Haryana government today reviewed the arrangements for the firt SAARC car rally, which will pass through the state.
The arrangements were reviewed by Chief Secretary Prem Prashant in a meeting held at New Delhi.
Senior officers of Haryana, Delhi Government and the Chandigarh Administration and office bearers of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) participated in the meeting. The SAARC car rally entered Haryana at Kala Amb in Panipat district from Nahan in Himachal Pradesh today.
The car rally reached Chandigarh via Panchkula this evening and after a night halt will begin the second leg tomorrow. The second leg after cris-crossing Punjab, will enter Haryana again at Rajpura on April 1.
A colourful cultural programme will also be presented by the folk artists of Haryana on the occasion.
The car rally will then leave Ambala and proceed to New Delhi, passing through Pipli, Karnal, Panipat and Rai.
In the third leg, the SAARC car rally will again enter Haryana at Gurgaon from New Delhi on April 3 and will proceed for Jaipur via Bawal in Rewari district.
Elaborate security arrangements for the rally have been made which includes escors pilot vehicles, ambulance and fire-brigade.
The objective of the rally is to focus on regional connectivity amongst SAARC countries, highlight the need to improve regional trade and transport infrastructure, increase people-to-people contact, tap the vast potential for business, investment and tourism opportunities and to promote regional goodwill.
The rally, was flagged off from Dhaka's Cox Bazar in Bangladesh on March 15 and will culminate at the Maldieves, on April 14, Where the 15th SAARC Summit is proposed to be held next year.
The participants from Afghanistan will also join the car rally from New Delhi on April 3. The 14th SAARC Summit begins in New Delhi from April 3.
