Ajay Singh, Poovamma ajudged Best

Bangalore, June 2 (UNI) Ajay Singh of Delhi and international Athlete M R Poovamma of host Karnataka were adjudged the best Athletes in Boys and Girls section respectively, even as Shivram Singh of Uttar Pradesh erased two year old record in Discuss throw, in the National Youth Athletics Championship which ended here today.

While Kerala boys bagged Overall Team Championship by winning nine medals in the tournament (4 Gold, 4 Silver, 1 Bronze), Tamil Nadu girls retained their Overall Team Championship title by winning 14 medals (5 Gold, 3 Silver, 6 Bronze).

Gujarat lad Devender Singh covered a height of 4.10 meters in Polevault to equal the Meet Record held by Vadivelu of Tamil Nadu since 2005.

Results: Boys: 200m: Md Wasim Akram (Jhar) I, Renju Rmanan (Ker)II, Dharambir Sarda Ram (Har) III, T: 22.7 secs; 800m: Sahil Mahindra (Del) I, Vikas Latiyan (UP) II, Pankaj Dimari (Utt) III. T:1:55.6 secs.

400m Hurdles: Jithin Paul (Ker) I, Sandip Burh (Ori) II, Parveen Kumar (Har) III, T: 53.7 secs. 5000m: Vinit Malik (Utt) I, Pramod Singh (Utt) II, Dharmendra Kumar Rai (UP) III. T: 16:00.9 secs.

High Jump: Jithin C Thomas (Ker) I, C Nikhil Chittarasu (TN) II, I Oradeep (Har) III. H: 2.02 mts. Triple Jump: Pushkar Mehunkar (Mah) I, Dhiraj Mishra (Mah) II, Arshad M (Kar) III. D: 14.44mts.
