AICF slashes entry fees for competitions
Mangalore, July 2 (UNI) In a bid to encourage more players to take to the sport, the All India Chess Federation (AICF) has decided to slash the entry fees in various competitions.
AICF Secretary D V Sundar, speaking at the inauguration of the Mangalore FIDE-rated All India Open chess tournament 2007, said the match registration fee has been reduced from Rs 300 to Rs 200 and the Donor's entry fee to Rs 7500 from Rs 15,000.
The Federation would also provide a kit to those participating in the tournament, he said.
He also deplored the state government for not holding any tournaments for several years depriving the opportunities to participants to showcase their talents. The state had also not elected a representative to the Karnataka Chess Association, he pointed out.
