Abu sizzles again, title in sight
Abu Dhabi, Jan 20 (UNI) Shiv Kapur stands tantalisingly close to his first European Tour after the talented Indian golfer carded a flawless four-under 68 to move up to tied second position after the penultimate round at the two million dollar Abu Dhabi Championships here today.
Kapur now aggregates 12-under 204 with just a stroke shy off the pace. Ireland's Padraig Harrington leads the field after carding an identical round. Spainard Miguel Angel Jimenez and Peter Hanson share the tied second spot with Kapur.
Overnight tied third, Kapur continued from where he left yesterday and opened his account by hitting a birdie on the very first hole. He gained a stroke apiece on the fourth and sixth hole before making the turn at three-under. He played safe thereafter and signed off in style by hitting a birdie on the last.
It was his second successive bogey-free round after carding a neat six-under 66 yesterday.
Kapur is the only Indian left in the fray after bigges like Asian Tour champion Jeev Milkha Singh and Jyoti Randhawa fell by the wayside yesterday.
