55 Snake Boats to participate in Nehru Boat Race

Alappuzha, July 27 (UNI) As many as 55 Snake Boats will participate in the 55th Nehru Trophy boat race to be held on August 11 here.

A meeting held at the District Collectorate today decided the number of the snake boats participating in the race.

In the category of 'Chundan vallam', the most prestigious race, 18 Chundans would participate. Former champion Parthasarathy and Pulinkunnu would participate in the procession.

Six boats would compete in the 'Iruttukuthi A grade' category and 11 in the 'B grade'.

Nine boats would contest in 'Veppu A grade' and five in 'B Grade', besides three 'Churulan' boats and three 'Thekkanodi'.
