A morale boosting ‘Olympic Run’ for good luck
New Delhi: Even as the Indian Hockey team began its quest for India's first Olympic Gold at Sydney, Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dixit flagged off the 'Olympic Run' here to wish the Indian Olympic contingent 'good luck' calling it 'the moment of truth' for all Indians.
The 'run', which started from the historic 'Vijay Chowk' and finished off at the National Stadium, saw more than 1,500 school children participate - all in 'white' - the symbol of peace and brotherhood alluding to the spirit of the Olympics.
Organised to express solidarity with the Indian team in Sydney Olympics, the 'run' sponsored by 'Satyam Infoway' and organised by an Internet portal, had children from SOS children's village besides other schools of the capital participating in the 'cheer up' run.
Mr Raj Raman, vice president, consumer channel, Satyam Infoway, sponsors of the 'Olympic Run' said, ''as the nation awaits Indian hockey team's first encounter at Sydney, all of us here express our solidarity with the participants, wishing them 'best of luck''.
Receiving the participants of the 'run' at the national stadium, information and broadcasting minister Arun Jaitley said, ''it is a great pleasure to see so much of the nation gathered here to extend their good wishes for the Indian Olympic squad. Surely it would give a big boost to their morale in their fight for medals''.
