Cycling - Olympic sprint: France take gold
Sydney: Arnaud Tournant got the gold on Sunday that eluded him a day earlier when he led France to victory in the Olympic sprint team race at the Dunc Gray Velodrome.
After finishing only fifth in the kilo metre time trial where he is world number one, Tournant's power was enough to edge out Britain by some four tenths of a second, recording 44.233 seconds for the second French gold.
He, Laurent Gane and Florian Rousseau were on top throughout against Britain's Chris Hoy, Craig Maclean, and Saturday's surprise gold medallist Jason Queally, in a repeat of last year's world championship final in Berlin.
The bronze fell to Australians Sean Eadie, Darryn Hill, and Gary Neiwand who clocked 45.161 to edge out shock qualifiers Greece (Lampros Vasilopoulos, Dimitrios Georgalis, and Kleanthis Bargkas) who timed 45.332.
