15-minute splash for CWC finale
Bridgetown, Barbados, Apr 14 (UNI) The closing ceremony for Cricket World Cup at Kensington Oval will be an explosive 15-minute production, National Cultural Foundation (NCF) chairman Al Gilkes said.
While no cost had been allotted to the event, the organisers were hoping to get renowned masquerade designer and artist Peter Minshall of Trinidad to co-ordinate the production.
Gilkes also announced that former general manager of the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation, Dr Allyson Leacock, was appointed consultant executive producer for the event by the Local Organising Committee, with the NCF as producer and Dorsie Boyce as technical director.
He said Minshall, who conceptualised the closing ceremonies for the Olympic Games in both Barcelona in 1992, Atlanta in 1996 was approached to replicate some of the creativity associated with both ceremonies.
It is also understood that Leacock and Boyce went to Trinidad last Thursday and held discussions with Minshall.
