15-day long skiing training camp concludes in Gulmarg
Gulmarg, Feb 22 (UNI) The 15-day long snow skiing course, organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, concluded at the world famous ski resort here yesterday.
The second phase of this camp was organised by the Sports Council this year in which 30 skiers from all over the state participated in basic and intermediate snow skiing courses.
During the 15-day course, participants were not only imparted training in the art of snow skiing but they were also given training of how to live life in drastic weather conditions.
On the final day of the course examination of the skiers was held and all of them successfully qualified for the next round.
Abdul Manan bagged first position while Syed Mutalib and Muhammad Zamin bagged second and third positions in the basic course technique.
In basic slalom Javaid Ahmad Khan, Lubnan Nabi and Muneer Ahmad bagged first, second and third positions.
In the intermediate course, Gurpreet Singh and Iram Manzoor bagged first and second positions while Wajid Ali bagged third.
Special prize was given to Ibrahim Mehraj who was the youngest skier and successfully completed the course. The other participants of the course were awarded certificate of merit.
