14 athletes to represent India in World Youth Championship
New Delhi, July 5 (UNI) A 13-member team, including seven girls, will represent India in the 5th IAAF World Youth Athletics Championship to be held at Ostrava in Czech Republic from July 11 to 15.
The team has been selected on the basis of performance in the National Youth Athletics Championship held in Bangalore from June 1 to 2.
The team: Boys: Sahil Mahindra (800m, Delhi), Ajay Pal Singh (Shot Put, Delhi), Jithin Paul (400m hurdles, Kerala), Shivam Singh (Discus, UP), Ajaj Ahmed (Hammer Throw, Delhi), Virender Kumar (Javelin Throw, Haryana); Girls: MR Poovamma (400m and Medley Relay, Karnataka), Anu Mariam Jose (800m and Medley Relay, Kerala), Manpreet kaur ( Shot Put, Punjab), Debashree Majumdar (Medley Relay, West Bengal), Jauna Marmu (Medley Relay, Orissa), Nanda Sarbani (Medley Relay, Orissa), Shriya Vidwans (Medley Relay, Maharashtra) Manager: Suresh Babu.
