13-member Judo team from India to leave for Kuwait

Patiala, May 10 (UNI) A 13-member Indian contingent, including six girls, will represent the country in the Asian Judo Championship slated for May 14-18 in Kuwait.

Eighteen countries in the sub-continent will vie for top honours in the event.

The Indian squad, accompanied by coaches J.G.Sharma, Satish Sharma, Satish Pahare and Suma Gogi, will leave for Kuwait on May 13 for the championship, which is an Olympic qualifying competition, Judo Federation of India (JFI) secretary-general Mukesh Kumar told UNI.

Mr Kumar, who will leave for Kuwait a day ahead of the departure of the Indian contingent was candid enough to admit that ''though the competition in Kuwait will be very tough, we hope to do well.'' UNI
