120 Guj officials to strive in India Forest Sports Meet 08

Surat, Nov 24 (UNI) Around 120 officials will represent the Gujarat Forest Department in the 17th India Forest Sports Meet-2008, to be held at Chandigarh from December 3-7.

Talking to newspersons here today, district circle Chief Forest Officer R J Asari said at least 2,000 forest department officials from various states and Union Territories are expected to participate in the meet.

Asari said the meet is divided into three age groups open category for 18 to 45 years, veteran category for 46-53 years, and senior veteran category for 54-60 years.

He said the event will include out door and indoor disciplines like cricket, sprinting, kabaddi, volley-ball, tennis, chess, table-tennis and badminton.

The 120 players of the state forest department have been selected from different forest ranges through a competitive selection procedure, he added.
