12 CFA pass outs selected for SAI Center of Excellence

Chandigarh, Apr 8 (UNI) The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has selected 12 players from the Chandigarh Football Academy (CFA) to train them at the SAI's Centre of Excellence in Kolkata.

Announcing the selcection of the 12 players here today, Chandigarh Sports Director-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner Inderjit Singh Sandhu said that they were selected out of 22 players who have passed out of the CFA after seven years of intensive training.

The selected 12 players include -- Pawan Kumar, Sukhwinder Singh, Sukhdeep Singh, Gurjinder Singh, Ravinder Singh, Randeep Singh, Gagan, Akiv, Rakesh Kumar, Narinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Abdul Shamim.

Mr Sandhu further informed though only 12 were selected for the SAI camp, but the Chandigarh Administration will continue to provide all necessary support and guidance to all the 22 players.

He was confident that on the basis of the players temperment, high level of skill and distinguished admirable achievements during these seven years of training, all of them would definitely find suitable placement in reputed training centers and academies of the country.

The Director also disclosed that offers from other academies and private institutions were also pouring in for the remaining 10 football players.
