Yuva Kabaddi Series: Visually impaired players showcase kabaddi skills at exhibition match
In an effort to promote empowerment and equality within the kabaddi community, the Yuva Kabaddi Series, in collaboration with the Indian Association for the Blind, organized a special kabaddi match for visually impaired players.
These remarkable athletes showcased their skills and unwavering determination, celebrating the essence of inclusivity. This exhibition match was a significant part of the monsoon edition of the groundbreaking Yuva Kabaddi Series.

Vikas Gautam, the CEO of the Yuva Kabaddi Series, emphasized the central role of inclusivity in their mission. He stated, "We believe that sports can transcend physical limitations, motivating players regardless of their physical abilities.
"Our partnership with the Indian Association for the Blind represents a significant milestone in our mission to empower these specially-abled youth, enabling them to participate in kabaddi and display their relentless pursuit of excellence, despite their visual challenges."
Gautam further explained that this exhibition match not only showcased exceptional talent but will also serve as an inspiration for others to break barriers, contributing to the creation of a more inclusive sports community in India.
The Indian Association for the Blind has been dedicated to helping visually impaired students participate in national and international sports, showcasing their skills on a global stage. Over the past 15 years, these players have earned numerous national and international medals.
In the Yuva Kabaddi exhibition match, 14 visually impaired players from Tamil Nadu demonstrated incredible skill and resilience, captivating the audience. The match saw Madurai Knights emerge victorious, defeating Madurai Victors with a score of 61-47.
Notably, S Kaviraman (11 tackle points) from Madurai Knights and Madan Raj (17 raid points) were recognized as the best defender and best raider of the match, respectively.
The Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Blind Sports Association, P Saravanaram, expressed gratitude to Yuva for the wonderful opportunity, stating, "The Yuva Kabaddi Series has been a fantastic experience for the players, boosting their confidence. The accommodation, food, and hospitality were excellent, and the Yuva organizers were friendly and accessible."
The thrilling action was broadcast live on DD Sports and FanCode, underscoring how sports can serve as a catalyst for positive change and inclusivity.
Launched in 2022, the Yuva Kabaddi Series, India's first tournament for Next Gen athletes, aims to provide a professional platform for young players (under 23, below 80 kg) and groom them for the grandest stages of kabaddi.
The platform has been instrumental in inspiring many young talents across the country to pursue kabaddi professionally, with some even representing India on the international stage.
