Two SAIL Hockey Academy players selected in India junior team

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Two SAIL Hockey Academy (SHA) players have been selected in the national junior team for the the five-day International Hockey Challenge Trophy to be held in Singapore from October 17.

Birender Lakra and Jerom Lakra who had joined the SHA, Rourkela in 2004, will be part of the Indian side for the six-nation tournament which will Hong Kong, Malaysia, Australia, Pakistan and Singapore.

Right-half Birender and centre-half Jerom, alongwith three other SHA player were among the 60 players initially selected from across the country for the training camps organised ahead at Gugaon and Bhopal ahead of the tournament, said a SAIL release issued here today.

In the 15 years of its existence, the SAIL Hockey Academy has produced several players of national repute, including Pawal Lakra, Suraj Kanta, K Sumesh Kanta, Rajesh Lakra, Md Amir Hayat and Awaish Sanjar.
