Namdhari XI trounce BSF 7-1 in Ranjit Singh hockey
New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) Riding on a brace each from Gurpreet Singh and Karamjit Singh, Namdhari XI trounced BSF Jalandhar 7-1 in a quarterfinal league match of the third Maharaja Ranjit Singh hockey tournament here today.
Besides Gurpreet (third, 58th) and Karamjit's (44th, 63rd) double stikes, the other scorers for the Namdharis were Anmolak Singh (23rd), Sukhjinder Singh (35th) and Gurvinder Singh (67th).
Domnic scored the the lone goal for BSF in the 15th minute.
Earlier in the day, Indian Airlines prevailed over IOC 2-1 in a closely contested match.
Brinder Lakra scored the match-winner for Indian Airlines in the 58th minute after IOC's Jaswinder Singh (49th) had cancelled out Usaf-ur-Rehman's 29th minute strike.
Punjab and Sind Bank take on Punjab National Bank while BPCL play Air India tomorrow.
