Jamal college lifts Dhyanchand hockey trophy

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 15 (UNI) Jamal Mohammed College, Tiruchirapalli, lifted the Fifth Dhyanchand Memorial South India Inter-university Hockey Tournament trophy today.

In a keenly-contested final, Jamal Mohammed College outclassed LNCP, Thiruvananthapuram 3-1.

For the winners, right extreme Saravanan scored the first goal in the 23rd minute, while right in Manikandn and Manivarnan completed the tally in the 46th and 48th minutes respectively.

LNCP Captain Bijoy reduced the margin in the 52nd minute.

Bijoy was selected as the top scorer of the tournament, while best player and best goal keeper awards were given to Irudayaraj and Dinesh (both Jamal Mohammed College) respectively.

Union Panchayati Raj, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar distributed the prizes.
