IOC, Namdhari XI in Ranjit Singh hockey final
New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) Indian Oil (IOC) struck twice in the last minute to blank Air India 3-0 in the semi-finals and set up a summit clash with Namdhari XI in the third Maharaja Ranjit Singh hockey tournament here today.
In the other semi-final, Namdhari XI prevailed over BPCL 6-4 via tie-breaker after the two sides were tied 1-1 in the regulation time.
For IOC, Prabhjot Singh (55th, 70th) and Hamza Mujathaba (70th) were the scorers.
Amar Aiyamma found the target for BPCL in the 10th minute but Gurpreet Singh cancelled it in the 22nd minute from a penalty stroke.
In the penalty shootout, all the Namdhari players -- Anmolak Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Harpal Singh and Gurvinder Singh -- were on target while Deepak Sharma, William Xalco and Irshad Ali scored for BPCL and Tushar Khandekar failed in his effort.
