IHF to launch national youth hockey development programme
Mumbai, Apr 14 (UNI) The Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) has announced the launch of the national youth hockey development programme in a bid to revive the national game of the country and regain its lost glory.
IHF secretary K Jyotikumaran, speaking at a function here to announce the launch of the development programme, said, ''The idea is to create a pool of about 40 to 50 talented youngsters who can later graduate into the senior national team.'' ''About Rs 50 lakh per year, for a period of four years, will be pumped into the programme by sponsors City Group, besides IHF will also contribute financially to ensure that the youth are provided with the best of facilities,'' IHF president KPS Gill said.
