IHF to decide future of 3 Sher-e-Jalandhar players on March 14
Chandigarh, Mar 12 (UNI) The Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) will decide on March 14 the future of Kamaldeep Singh, Tejbir Singh and Maninder Singh, the three Sher-e-Jalandhar players, whose three-year suspension has been reportedly recommended by Premier Hockey League (PHL) Director Shakeel Qureshi.
The PHL Durector has found the three guilty of gross misbehaviour against umpire Satinder Sharma in the third and deciding best-of-three finals played in Chandigarh on March 5.
Talking to UNI from Chennai on phone, IHF secretary general Jyothikumaran confirmed that the decision on the action against the three would be announced on March 14. ''The decision will be made official on that day,'' he said.
Asked whether they would be banned from the PHL or other domestic and international tournaments, Mr Jyothikumaran said, ''there are two parts of the issue, once this is confirmed, we will announce the decision.'' Qureshi has reportedly recommended strict action to the IHF against goalkeeper Kamaldeep Singh, Tejbir Singh and second goalkeeper Maninder Singh.
The IHF had already slapped 50 per cent fine on the prize money of Rs 15 lakh that runners-up Sher-E-Jalandhar had won, after losing to Orissa Steelers in the third of the best-of-three finals.
