DAV Jallandhar enters Nehru hockey quarter-finals

New Delhi, Feb 12 (UNI) Seven-time champions DAV College, Jallandhar, thrashed local challengers Kirorimal College 11-2 to sail into the quarter-finals of the 14th SAIL-Nehru Champion Colleges hockey tournament here today.

For the winners, who led 6-0 at half time, Yadwinder Singh (2nd, 52nd), Paramjeet Singh (4th, 10th), Onkar Singh (63rd, 68th) scored two goals apiece while Ravinder Singh (13th), Sanjeev Kumar (20th), Sarwan Singh (35th), Gurdeep Singh (54th) and Jashan Preet Singh (69th) found the target once.

Faculty of Humanity and Social Sciences of MG Kashi Vidyapith (Varanasi) and Govt Mahindra College, Patiala, also booked their quarter-final berths, drawing 1-1 with Pachaiyappa College, Chennai, and drubbing Faculty of Arts, Banaras Hindu University, 9-1 respectively.
