Chouhan laments that hockey does not enjoy special status
Bhopal, Aug 4: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has expressed surprise at the Centre's revelation that hockey does not enjoy a special status as the national game of the country.
Recently, in reply to a query under Right to Information Act, Union Government had said that there was no notification or order declaring it as the national game.
The Chief Minister, in a letter to Union Sports Minister Ajay Maken, said that this had disappointed crores of hockey-lovers. The game had a glorious history in India, he said.
Efforts were needed to redeem the game's past glory, he added.
