BSF Jalandhar qualify for main rd of Ranjit Singh hockey
New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) BSF, Jalandhar, beat Sikh Regiment Centre, Ramgarh, 2-0 to qualify for the main round of the third Maharaja Ranjit Singh hockey tournament at Shivaji Stadium here today.
John Jojo (38th minute) and Peter Tirkey (49th) were the scorers for the winners in the lone prelimibary round match scheduled for the nine-day tournament sponsored by Oriental Bank.
BSF now join, for the league phase, Indian Airlines, IOC and Namdhari XI in Pool I while Punjab and Sind Bank, Air India, BPCL and PNB consitutute Pool II.
Indian airlines take on Namdhari XI while IOC take on BSF tomorrow.
