BPCL outplay CH Academy in Six-a-Side hockey
Chandigarh, May 14 (UNI) Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) chalked out an easy 8-4 verdict over state-run Chandigarh Hockey Academy (CHA) in the fifth Olympian Dharam Singh Memorial Six-a-Side Hockey Tournament being played under lights at the Sector 18 Hockey Stadium here tonight.
The winners lead 4-2 at half time. For the winners Ravi Pal gave an oustanding performance by contributing three goals. Irsha Ali (2), Pundik (2) and Prabdeep Singh (1) were the other winners' marskmen.
Chandigarh Hockey Academy was well served by Harmanpreet who performed three-in-a-row feat. However that was not enough for CHA to extricate his team from the jaws of death. Devinder Singh netted one to reduce the margin.
Kuttapa of BPCL was adjudged the man of the match.
The second match played between Punjab State Electricity Board and Rock Rovers ended in a high scoring 13-all draw. Satinder Singh of Rock Rovers repeatedly pierced into the PSEB defence to find the target nine times. Deepak Thakur contributed three goals and Mandeep one for Rock Rovers. Jatinder (5), Amit Kumar (3), Balwinder Singh (3), Varinder Singh (1) and Manvir Singh (1) were the PSEB goal getters. The teams were awarded one point each.
