Balwant Kapur School Hockey from Jan 14
Jalandhar, Jan 12 (UNI) Sixteen teams, one of them from Pakistan, will participate in the 3rd All India Balwant Kapur Memorial School Hockey (Boys under-17) Tournament scheduled to be played at the Burlton Park Surjit Hockey Stadium here from January 14 to 21.
While 15 teams will come from various parts of the country, one team--Lahore XI--will come from Pakistan to play in the event, tournament committee president Harbhajan Singh told reporters today.
Eight teams will be given entry into league, while four teams would qualify from preliminary knock out round, he said.
The winner team would get cash prize of Rs One lakh, runners up Rs 60,000 and the third position holder would get Rs 40,000, Singh said.
Besides, prizes would also be given to players on the basis of their individual performance.
India Hockey Federation would send its observer for the tournament to spot out budding talents for coaching camp for under-17 national squad, he said.
