Azerbaijan wins hockey series

Gwalior, Dec 8 (UNI) Azerbaijan's women's hockey team today clinched a series victory by beating the Madhya Pradesh State Women's Hockey Academy 1-0 on the North-Central Railway's astroturf ground here.

In today's encounter, the first half turned out to be goalless though the vistors were awarded a penalty corner the Academy on the other hand got four. In the second, Azerbaijan's Aleeva Jhee Yong scored a spectacular field goal. The visitors were awarded 2 penalty corners in the second half while the Academy got 1.

The inaugural trial match had ended 2-1 in Azerbaijan's favour and the first match of the series ended in a 3-3 draw.
