Why is Bukayo Saka Not Playing in Arsenal vs Sporting CP in Champions League Today?
Arsenal travels to the Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon tonight for their crucial UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg clash against Sporting CP, but they will have to do so without their talismanic winger, Bukayo Saka.
The absence of the English international comes as a massive blow to the Gunners, who are looking to desperately bounce back from a tumultuous week that saw them surprisingly knocked out of both the Carabao Cup (by Manchester City) and the FA Cup (a 2-1 defeat to Southampton).

Why is Bukayo Saka Not Playing Tonight?
Bukayo Saka has been ruled out of the Sporting CP fixture due to a minor injury issue. The warning signs were heavily present when the winger missed Arsenal's unorthodox open training session on Monday morning ahead of their flight to Portugal.
The injury had already kept Saka sidelined for the weekend's disappointing 2-1 FA Cup loss to Southampton. In his pre-match press conference on Monday, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed the fans' worst fears, stating that Saka had not traveled with the squad for the vital European tie.
When pressed for details regarding the availability of Saka and defender Jurriën Timber who is also missing the trip with a recurring injury issue, Arteta was characteristically cautious but ruled them out completely for tonight's game.
"No, they're having trouble, they're not ready yet," Arteta told reporters. However, the Spanish boss did provide a glimmer of hope regarding their short-term recovery. "Let's see, hopefully they're going to be ready for the weekend, if everything goes well, and that's a massive boost because in recent days we've lost so many important players and that's something that we need to change immediately".
Who Will Replace Bukayo Saka?
Arsenal relies heavily on Saka's creativity and goal-scoring threat on the right flank, meaning his absence requires an immediate tactical reshuffle. Fortunately for Arteta, the Gunners possess significant depth out wide.
Noni Madueke is the most natural replacement and is widely expected to serve as a direct deputy on the right wing tonight. Alternatively, Arteta could utilize the returning Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli to inject pace and creativity into the frontline. Interestingly, 16-year-old prodigy Max Dowman, who has seen 18 minutes of Champions League action this season, could also be considered for a cameo appearance from the bench.
Whether Arsenal can shake off their recent domestic cup woes and secure a first-leg advantage without their star boy remains to be seen.
