Strand Larsen Crystal Palace Signing Seals Club-Record Transfer From Wolves

Crystal Palace have completed a club-record move for striker Jorgen Strand Larsen from struggling Wolves, giving Oliver Glasner a new focal point in attack as the Eagles sit 15th in the Premier League, nine points above the relegation places.

The Norway international joins after a difficult campaign with Wolves, where Strand Larsen has scored only once in the league, although the forward hit 14 Premier League goals last season and is viewed as a long-term option at Selhurst Park.

Strand Larsen seals club-record move

Crystal Palace have been searching all winter for a striker and pushed the deal through on deadline day, paying a reported 43m fee plus 5m in potential add-ons, while Strand Larsen has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the club.

Head coach Oliver Glasner will hope the 25-year-old provides greater cutting edge in front of goal, with Crystal Palace aiming to pull further clear of danger following Sunday’s draw against Nottingham Forest, which kept a healthy gap to the bottom three.

The transfer follows an abandoned move for Jean-Philippe Mateta, who had been expected to leave Crystal Palace for AC Milan, but the proposed switch collapsed on Monday after the striker reportedly failed a medical, forcing Palace to adjust their attacking plans.

Alongside the Jorgen Strand Larsen deal, Crystal Palace are also working on a late move for Everton winger Dwight McNeil, as the club seek extra attacking depth before the window closes following the collapse of Mateta’s transfer.

Jorgen Strand Larsen could make a first Crystal Palace appearance next weekend against rivals Brighton, who have announced that midfielder Matt O’Riley has returned from a loan spell at Marseille, setting up an important match for both squads.
