Splashing cash has hit Liverpool's title dream: Rafa

London, Aug.15 (ANI): Coach Rafa Benitez has said that splashing the cash on a back-up striker could actually have hit Liverpool's title dream.

The Kop boss has forked out 37-million pounds on Alberto Aquilani and Glen Johnson to replace Real Madrid buys Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa.

Now, a lack of funds has stopped the club from signing a top-level striker like David Villa.

"To bring in a big, big name, you often have to change everything. It was the same situation when we brought in Robbie Keane," The Sun quoted Benitez, as saying.

"We have signed the players we needed and I don't think we are short in attack. David Ngog is a player with quality, hopefully he can bring something," he added.

Benitez added: "Two or three clubs around the world have big, big money, but I'm like the rest of the managers asking for more. But it's not affecting my commitment. You just have to work harder." (ANI)
