Saran soccer 5s to be held on June 2-3

Mumbai, May 26 (UNI) It's yet another round of soccer mania as corporate India gears up for the Barclays Corporate Soccer 5s 2007, India's premier Corporate Soccer 5s championship which has been co-sponsored by BPL Mobile.

The championship which is in it's sixth year will be played at the Western Railway Ground on June 2-3, 2007.

''It will serve as a stress free forum for the busy executives in a relaxed environment away from the pressures of the workplace.

Special rules have been structured to ensure that the matches, though competitive, are fun with the size of the field being small and there being no offside,'' explained Sanjiv Saran Mehra, CEO, Saran Presents in a release issued here today.

The matches will be played on a league cum knock-out basis with teams vying for the Super Cup, Champions Cup, Salver, Bowl and Ladies Cup.

A record turn out of 70 teams is participating in the championship this year. Leading corporate teams including Bank of America, Disney, Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse, Heinz, amongst others are taking part.

Some of the executives likely to feature in the Championship are, Nirvik Singh (Chairman, South Asia, Grey Worldwide), Ashwini Kakkar (Vice Chairman, Mercury Travels), Dileep Choksi (Co-Chairman, Deloitte, Haskin and Sells), Navalbir Kumar (MD, Standard Chartered Mutual Fund), Suketu Shah (President, Mukand Limited) amongst other head honchos are expected to participate, the release added.
