PU beat Lucknow by 5-0 in NZ Inter-Varsity Football tournament

Patiala, Oct 22 (UNI) Punjab University thrased Lucknow University 5-0 in the ongoing North Zone Inter-Varsity Football Tournament played here today.

Inderjit Singh scored a brace, while Amarjit Singh, Harinder Singh and Jashanpreet Singh netted a goal each.

In another match, the local team Punjabi University, which had recently won the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy, beat the fancied Delhi University 2-0.

Pawandeep Singh and Manpreet Singh scored a goal each.

Punjabi University dominated the game throughout and thwarted every Delhi move to blunt any scoring chance that came Delhi's way.

Delhi University's forward line was not strong enough to beat the local team defenders who were rock solid to defend the citadel.
