Mohamed Salah Injury Defines Liverpool Season, Says Slot

Liverpool manager Arne Slot lamented an untimely setback after Mohamed Salah suffered an injury during the 3-1 home win over Crystal Palace, warning that "Another win and another injury. It’s the story of our season."

The result at Anfield strengthened Liverpool’s Champions League push, as the team moved into fourth place. The Reds overtook Aston Villa in the Premier League standings, maintaining a firm grip on a top-five position following the controlled victory against Crystal Palace.

Salah Injury Defines Liverpool Season

The key moment came early in the second half when Salah went down holding a hamstring. The forward overstretched while trying to reach a loose ball on the edge of the penalty area, and the immediate reaction raised concern among Liverpool’s medical staff.

The incident forced Liverpool into a change on 59 minutes, with Jeremie Frimpong introduced. Salah left the field unaided but looked uncomfortable while walking off. Supporters at Anfield offered warm applause, aware of the possible significance given Salah’s contract situation.

Liverpool are now waiting for scan results and are also mindful of the wider context. Salah is expected to leave when the current deal ends at the close of this season, so any extended lay-off could mean the injury becomes Salah’s last appearance for the club.

Slot stressed that assessments were still ongoing after the match. "It’s too early to say, but we all know Mo and how hard it is for him to leave the pitch," Slot said. "For Mo to leave the pitch, it shows you something, but we have to wait and see how bad it is."

The injury cloud slightly tempered the mood following a convincing display, yet Liverpool still emerged with three points and an improved league position. The situation around Salah now becomes a central concern for Slot and the squad during the closing weeks of the campaign.
