Meghalaya win gold in men's football

Gangtok, Feb 28 (UNI) Meghalaya won gold in the Men's football by defeating Sikkim 5-4 via tie-break on the concluding day of the 21st North East Sports festival.

Gordon Zordan Channa of Meghalaya scored the first goal in the 19th minute but the match ended 1-1 as Bikash Zairu of Sikkim equalised.

In the tie breaker, Meghalaya won 5-4.

Lekin Suiting, L Fela, Gordon Zoram Channa, K Lyngsino and N O Gatphoh scored for Meghalaya.

Nagaland finished third.

In the Women's section, Manipur defeated Sikkim 4-0 to win gold.

L Naobi Chanu, N Naobi Chanu, M Bem Bem Devi and Ch Sanathei Chanu scored for Manipur. Mizoram emerged third.

In volleyball, Mizoram won both the men's and women's gold defeating Manipur and Assam respectively.

Sikkim managed to collect bronze in both men and women volleyball.
