Man City star Erling Haaland set to miss Champions League Match? Pep Guardiola gives Latest Update

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has provided the latest update on the injury-laden Erling Haaland ahead of their Champions League match.

Man City have travelled to Lisbon ahead of their Champions League group stage match against Sporting CP on Tuesday. The Cityzens are currently placed 3rd in the points table with 7 points in three matches.

But ahead of the tricky match in Portugal, Man City suffered an injury scare with their star striker Erling Haaland. The Norwegian was visibly in distress with an issue, as he was seen nursing his shin during a training session. The potential injury raised questions among the fans on Haaland's fitness, and now Guardiola has provided the answers.

Erling Haaland is fine: Guardiola

Guardiola has confidently stated that the forward is available for the upcoming encounter against Sporting. The team, having just arrived in Portugal for the game, looks to rebound from recent setbacks with Haaland's inclusion.

Guardiola's assurance "He's fine," has provided a sigh of relief for Manchester City fans. The news comes at a critical time as the team faces a spate of injuries, with key players like John Stones, Jack Grealish, and Ruben Dias sidelined. Furthermore, Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker, Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake, and Jeremy Doku are all battling fitness issues, adding to the team's challenges.

"Manu and Nathan are still with problems. Kevin is getting better, he's having sessions with less and less pain, so we feel that he feels more comfortable. Kyle as well has had problems with his knee since he was with the national team. Doku has had a little problem with muscular issues, Savinho is getting better with his ankle. The rest are fine," Guardiola added in the pre-match press conference.

The Premier League giants suffered their first league defeat at the hands of Bournemouth last week. They also lost their EFL Cup match against Tottenham before that. And amid the two consecutive defeats, City wouldn't want to be crippled up front with an injury of Haaland.

Will Erling Haaland start against Sporting CP?

The 24-year-old has netted 3 goals in the UCL so far this season, coupled with 11 strikes in the league. Hence if Haaland is fit, Guardiola won't shy away from starting him in Lisbon.
