Mahindra to play Lebanese club in AFC Cup QF in September
Kuala Lumpur, June 13 (UNI) Mahindra United will play against Labanese side Al Nijmeh in the quarter-finals of the AFC Cup 2007 in September.
The Mumbai side has been scheduled to play against the Beirut-based club on September 18 and 25, according to the draw announced here today.
Mahindra entered the knock-out stage as one of the two best runners-up in the group stage while Al Nijmeh, the 2005 Lebanese Premier League champions, qualified as Group A champions.
The allocation of venues for the home and away legs will be decided later.
If Mahindra win the quarter-finals, they will meet the winners of another last eight match between anotherJordanian club Shabab Al Ordun or Singapore Armed Forces in the semi-finals which will take place on October 2 and 23.
The final of AFC's second tier club tournament will be played over two legs on November 2 and 9.
Meanwhile, defending champions Al Faisaly of Jordan face Tampines Rovers of Singapore when they resume the defence of their title.
Al Faisaly, who won the Cup title in 2005 also, had claimed a 2-0 aggregate victory against the Singapore side in quarter-finals two years ago.
