Liverpool hit by Alonso and Agger injuries

LONDON, Sep 20 (Reuters) Liverpool will be without midfielder Xabi Alonso and defender Daniel Agger for up to six weeks, the English Premier League club said today.

Both players suffered foot injuries while on international duty last week and scans have revealed they have suffered stress to metatarsals.

Club spokesman Ian Cotton told Liverpoolfc.tv: ''Neither player will require surgery but we expect them to be out of action for between four and six weeks.

''Xabi Alonso has suffered a stress fracture to the fourth metatarsal in his left foot and Daniel Agger has suffered a stress fracture to the second metatarsal in his right foot.'' REUTERS BJR RN1436
