Leon Goretzka dismisses Bayern Munich talks

Berlin, July 31: FC Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka has branded rumours about a pre-contract agreement with Bayern Munich as 'complete rubbish'.

Goretzka was impressive for Schalke last season in their campaign of struggle. The 22-year-old scored five times for Schalke last year whereas also dazzled everyone with his performances for Germany at Confederations Cup where he became the top scorer of the tournament.

The German international has been linked repeatedly with Bayern Munich and earlier this week many reports suggested that the midfielder has officially penned a pre-contract deal with Bayern Munich.

Goretzka is in the last year of his contract and along with the Bundesliga champions, he is also been linked with Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Liverpool.

However, in a recent interview with Bild, Goretzka has rubbished the of gossip about the deal being set up with Bayern and insisted no decision has been made.

Addressing Bild, the German stated: “There is no agreement, this is complete nonsense."

“I understand, of course, that this subject is keeping people busy. I have made it clear that if a decision is made, I will announce it."

“Seeing as no decision has been reached yet, I can't tell you anything new. I have not set a deadline. The decision depends on many factors and it's not easy."

“I intend to take my time and not get stressed by it all."

Bayern have already signed a promising midfielder Corentin Tolisso this season and should Goretzka move to the Bavarian side, there is a chance that his game time becomes limited.

With World Cup round the corner, it is highly unlikely that the young midfielder would take such a decision to make a move to the German side.

The midfielder is currently sidelined with a thigh injury and is with Schalke's pre-season team at the training camp in Austria.
