Kylian Mbappe Rape Allegations: Cristiano Ronaldo to Dani Alves, Five Other Footballers Accused of Rape Charges
Kylian Mbappe, the Real Madrid and France superstar, has recently found himself embroiled in controversy following rape allegations in Stockholm. His representatives have firmly denied the accusations, stating that they were unaware of the claims and labelling them as false.
While investigations are ongoing, this incident adds Mbappe to a growing list of high-profile footballers who have faced similar accusations of sexual assault and rape allegations.

Over the years, several football stars have been entangled in allegations of sexual assault, with cases ranging from false accusations to proven guilt. Here are five notable examples of footballers who have been involved in such scandals:
1. Cristiano Ronaldo
In 2017, Portuguese icon Cristiano Ronaldo was accused of rape in an explosive report by German publication Der Spiegel.
The report revealed that the alleged incident occurred in 2009, and an out-of-court settlement had been reached in 2010, with the accuser receiving $375,000 in exchange for her silence.
However, the woman publicly came forward in 2018 during the height of the Me Too movement. Ronaldo has repeatedly denied the accusations, and the case was eventually dropped with no further legal action.
2. Dani Alves
Brazilian football legend Dani Alves was convicted of rape in 2022 after being accused of assaulting a young woman in a VIP bathroom at a Barcelona nightclub. The former Barcelona and Juventus player now faces a potential prison sentence of 4.5 years, along with damages of €150,000 and five years of supervised release. Alves is currently out on bail.
3. Adam Johnson
English winger Adam Johnson, who previously played for Sunderland and Manchester City, was convicted in 2016 of engaging in sexual activity with a child and child grooming.
The former England international was sentenced to six years in prison, serving three before being released. Despite his release, Johnson has not returned to professional football, and his career has been completely tarnished by the conviction.
4. Robinho
Brazilian footballer Robinho, once a star for Manchester City and AC Milan, was convicted of gang rape in Italy in 2017.
He and five other men were found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman at a Milan nightclub after intoxicating her with alcohol.
After exhausting all appeals, Robinho’s nine-year prison sentence was upheld by Italy’s supreme court in 2022. Brazilian authorities arrested him at his home, and he is now serving the sentence.
5. Mason Greenwood
Former Manchester United player Mason Greenwood was accused of physical and sexual abuse by his girlfriend in 2022. The allegations led to Greenwood being suspended from the club while the investigation unfolded.
However, the charges were dropped after the alleged victim, who later married Greenwood, chose not to pursue the case. Despite the resolution of the legal matter, Manchester United decided to release Greenwood permanently this summer, and he now plays for Marseille.
