Kolkata Rape Case: Indian U20 Footballer's Goal Celebration Sparks Solidarity in SAFF U20 Championship, Brings Movement to International Stage
Indian U20 team's 1-0 win over Bhutan in the SAFF U20 Championship created headlines after Monirul Molla's goal celebration delivered a powerful message, demanding justice for the victim of the Kolkata RG Kar medical college rape and murder case.
This symbolic gesture from the Indian U20 footballer drew global attention to the pressing issue that the nation is facing currently. Furthermore, this celebration also demonstrated the power of sport to enhance voices on important societal issues.

Notably, on August 9, a second-year postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar medical college was found dead in a seminar hall inside the campus. An autopsy deemed that she was raped and murdered.
Subsequently, the incident created huge outrage across the nation leading to protests that demanded a thorough investigation on the case.
India bagged a 1-0 win over Bhutan
India and Bhutan were handed three red cards - two for India and one for Bhutan after a scuffle between players from both sides. As a result, India were reduced to nine players by the 69th minute of the game at the ANFA Complex in Lalitpur, Nepal on Monday, August 19.
In the 37th minute, Monirul Molla rose to accurately headed it into the bottom corner to give India a 1-0 lead in the contest. Since then, Indian players continued to be on the front foot, taking control of possession.
Though Bhutan tried to put in a lot of pressure on the Indian team and capitalize on their player advantage, India continued to come out on top with three points. The last 10 minutes of injury time turned out to be an entertaining affair as both sides had their chances to convert.
The Blue Colts are currently right on top of the standings in Group B with three points and they will get a three-day gap before their next time against Maldives. Unfortunately, India will be without Pramveer and Vanlalpeka Guite, who were suspended after receiving red cards.
A victory for Maldives in the game against Bhutan will ensure the semi-final spot for the Indian team. Bhutan and Maldives are scheduled to take on each on Wednesday.
