Junior Bangla footballers to hone skill at TFA

Jamshedpur, Jan 13 (UNI) A 20-member Bangladesh Under-16 team has arrived here to hone their skills at the Tata Football Academy (TFA) here.

The Bangladesh junior team had begun their training under the TFA coaches at the premier football academy since yesterday and would continue till January 31, Tata Steel sports chief Sanjeeva Singh said.

Mr Singh said the Bangladesh youth team visiting the academy would comprise mostly the players, who participated in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) championship qualifiers at UAE last October.

Mr Singh said in response to the TFA's invitation that the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) had orgnaised the trip.

Significantly, Tata Steel and BOA also signed an MoU last year in which both the parties had agreed to exchage sporting activities and send their sports persons to take part in several sports between both the countries and under the MoU contigents of Bangladesh football, archery, athletics and boxing teams have been arriving in the city to obtain training since last year.

The Tata sports chief said apart from obtaining training at the academy, the neighbouring country's team would also take part in a soccer tournament alog with the TFA team on January 17 in Sports Minister Bandhu Tirkey's native village Itki.
