JCT Academy edge BSF in Punjab league football
Phagwara, July 26 (UNI) Jagatjit Cotton Textile (JCT) Academy, Phagwara got the better of Border Security Force (BSF), Jalandhar by 2-1 in the 21st Punjab State Super Football League at the Guru Nanak College Ground here today.
Both the teams played a cautious game in the initial stages of the match. However, as the match progressed, the forwards of both teams launched attacks and counter attacks.
Balwant Singh drew the first blood for JCT Academy as his powerful shot found the net. BSF counter-attacked and restored parity when Santosh Kujur caught the JCT Academy defence napping in the 48th minute.
At the fag end of the match, Jagpreet Singh snatched the match-winner in the 88th minute. JCT Academy have so far won two matches and lost one.
JCT Academy's Jagpreet Singh (60th minute) and BSF's Gurminder Singh (54th) and PH Boy Singh (67th) were shown yellow cards for deliberate fouls.
