Liverpool Legend Jamie Carragher aims fresh dig at Manchester United manager
Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher has once again aimed fresh criticism at Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, predicting that the Dutchman might not last the upcoming season at Old Trafford.
This comes despite Ten Hag's recent contract extension and his role in salvaging a difficult 2023/24 campaign for the Red Devils.

Ten Hag, who was appointed as United's manager following a successful stint with Ajax, has experienced a turbulent time in English football. His first season saw United secure a fourth-place finish in the Premier League, followed by a challenging second season where the team finished in a disappointing eighth place—their lowest-ever finish in the Premier League era.
Despite these struggles, Ten Hag managed to lead United to silverware, winning the League Cup in his debut season and the FA Cup in the following campaign, where they triumphed over Manchester City.
Given the mixed results, Manchester United's new part-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, was reported to have explored potential successors to Ten Hag during the offseason. However, Ratcliffe ultimately decided to stick with the Dutchman, offering him a contract extension until the end of the 2025-26 season.
Yet, Carragher remains unconvinced. During a recent appearance on The Overlap's Fan Debate, Carragher boldly predicted that Ten Hag could be sacked by November.
Speaking alongside United legend Paul Scholes, Carragher asked the audience for their "hot takes" on the upcoming season before offering his own: "What’s mine… Ten Hag gone by November… international break."
Carragher's skepticism was further emphasized during a discussion with United fan and broadcaster Adam McKola, who suggested that Manchester United would either win the league or appoint Ruud van Nistelrooy as their manager by Christmas. Carragher suggested that he considers the latter scenario more likely.
Manchester United's preseason has done little to subdue concerns about the team's prospects for the upcoming season. While they secured a 3-2 victory over Real Betis, they suffered defeats to both Arsenal and Liverpool during their tour of the United States.
The pressure will be on Ten Hag as United prepare to face Manchester City in the Community Shield, the traditional curtain-raiser for the 2024-25 season. A strong performance could help silence some of his critics, but anything less could boost the doubts surrounding his future.
