Mumbai City FC secured a monumental result at home as they drubbed NorthEast United with an emphatic 4-1 victory on Tuesday (March 12).

It was another glory night for the Islanders, who have now reclaimed the top spot after the fantastic victory. Vikram Partap Singh scored a hat-trick while Yoell van Nieff scored one as they got a huge victory over the Highlanders.

Vikram opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, and then quickly doubled his tally within 10 minutes of the match. The 22-year-old completed his hat-trick in the 80th minute of the match, thus taking his tally to 7 goals in this ISL season.

With the hat-trick, Vikram Partap has become the first Indian to achieve the feat this season. He has also become the first Indian to score an ISL hattrick in two years, since Mohun Bagan's (then ATK Mohun Bagan) Kiyan Nassiri netted a hattrick in a 3-1 victory over East Bengal in 2022.

In the history of ISL, Vikram Partap Singh becomes only the 6th Indian player to find the net thrice in a match.

Sunil Chhetri scored the first one in the 2015 season during his Mumbai City FC days, and significantly, it also came at the expense of NorthEast United. The Indian captain netted another hat-trick back in 2018 for Bengaluru FC in a 3-1 win over Pune City.

Thongkhosiem Haokip, Seiminlen Doungel, Bipin Singh and Kiyan Nassiri have one hat-trick each to their names.
