India's top schools for junior football
Mumbai, Feb 6 (UNI) Champion schools from eight cities will participate in the national finals of the Playwin Junior Football Championships to be held here from February 7 to 10.
Jeetendra Joshi, director SportzVillage, the promoters of the event, announced the tournament at a press conference in the presence of Dheeraj Gawade, marketing manager, Playwin here today.
The eight finalists emerged from among 184 teams from top schools in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Cochin and Goa, who played in their own cities over last month.
The tournament, which has Lotte Sprout as the associate sponsor, is being presented by Hansaplast, and Mumbai's challenge will be spearheaded by St Anne's, Malad, who emerged champs from among 24 teams in Mumbai.
The Playwin Junior Football Tournament is part of the AIFF-Zee Sports project ''Goal 2010'', which is a vision to see India play in the Football World Cup.
Following are the eight teams in contention: St Anne's, Mumbai; Agarpara Mahajan Vidyapith, Kolkata, Vivek High School, Chandigarh, Air Force Bal Bharti School, Delhi, St Patricks Anglo Indian Higher Secondary High School, Chennai, Delta Study Tower, Cochin, Army Services Public School, Bangalore and Don Bosco High School, Goa.
